One significant risk factor is the use of nicotine products, including cigarettes, e-cigarettes, and nicotine pouches, all of which can harm blood vessels, elevate blood pressure, and increase the likelihood of heart disease. Similarly, high blood pressure, if left unmanaged, forces the heart to exert more effort, escalating the risk of heart attacks, strokes, and heart failure. Sleep apnea is another condition that, when untreated, can repeatedly lower oxygen levels during sleep, placing additional strain on the cardiovascular system.
