Taiwan and the United States have signed a joint statement endorsing the principles of the Pax Silica Declaration, a U.S.-led initiative aimed at securing supply chains for advanced technologies and critical minerals.
The statement was issued during the sixth round of the Economic Prosperity Partnership Dialogue held in Washington. Both sides affirmed their commitment to mutual prosperity, technological advancement, and stronger supply chain resilience.
Discussions focused on countering economic coercion, enhancing cooperation in third countries, and strengthening the full technology ecosystem, including artificial intelligence, semiconductors, critical minerals, and digital infrastructure. The two sides also reviewed initiatives related to supply chain security, certification of drone systems, and easing barriers to cross-border investment.
U.S. officials highlighted the importance of moving beyond risk reduction toward building trusted technology frameworks, describing Taiwanese companies as key partners in these efforts. While Taiwan has not yet formally joined the Pax Silica Declaration, officials called the endorsement of its principles a significant step forward.
