Russian Ambassador Denis Alipov has outlined a future for the defense partnership with India based on “full technology-sharing,” declaring it has long moved “beyond a traditional buyer-seller model.”
In a Delhi address, Alipov announced a major defense push, reaffirming the 60-year ties that have provided 70% of India’s military hardware.
He celebrated “shared achievements” like the joint production of BrahMos missiles, Su-30 MKI jets, and T-90 tanks, promising this “will continue to expand.”
The centerpiece of the future plan is the local production of the Su-57 fighter jet to support India’s AMCA program. Alipov also confirmed talks are underway for drones, anti-drone systems, and advanced radar.
This emphasis on co-development and technology transfer comes as a direct response to US pressure. After Donald Trump claimed India would stop buying “beneficial” Russian oil, Russia is highlighting the deep, long-term benefits of its “all-weather” friendship.
