A cluttered mind and a tense body are deeply interconnected. This three-pose flow is designed to unwind physical tension and, in doing so, create space and clarity in your mind. By moving through postures that embody Earth, Water, and Space, you can release the knots in both your body and your thoughts.
Begin by unwinding your spine and hips in Balasana (Child’s Pose). This gentle forward bend creates a mild traction in the lower back and a soft opening in the hips, areas where we commonly store stress. As you release this physical tension, you may notice a corresponding release in mental tightness. The stability of the pose provides a safe space for this unwinding to occur.
Next, release circulatory stagnation with Viparita Karani (Legs-Up-the-Wall). The feeling of “stuckness” is both physical and mental. This pose gets things moving again, improving blood and lymph flow throughout the body. This physical flushing helps to clear mental fog and emotional heaviness, embodying the cleansing and clarifying power of water.
Finally, unclutter your mind by turning inward with Paschimottanasana (Seated Forward Bend). This pose gently stretches the entire posterior chain of the body, from your heels to the crown of your head, releasing layers of deep-seated tension. As this physical tightness dissolves, so too does mental clutter, leaving you with a profound sense of inner space and quiet clarity.
